China hosts Rory and Tiger in an Exhibition that Paid Both VERY Well

You may or may not of heard about the made for TV match between TW and Rory McIlroy in China earlier this week. I thought I'd post a piece I wrote for a website you might enjoy.

There's little doubt that China is making a move into the sport of Golf with both their development of courses and the amount of money they are willing to pay to attract the elite in the sport.

Enjoy by clicking the on the link below.

Henrik Stenson's Swing and the Wisdom of Coach Cowen May be the Best Swing Wisdom You Hear

Peter Murphy, international teacher and Haney veteran Director of Instruction, and Gary Cordoza, Director of Instruction for Joe and Leighs Golf Performance Center, chat with me in what may be our best Podcast in 5 years. (They just keep getting better!)

Murphy knows Stenson's coach Pete Cowan who is one of the most prolific coaches when it comes to working with international tour players like, (in addition to Henrik), Graeme McDowell, Louis Oosthuizen and Padrig Harrington to name a few.

In addition to Stenson's swing, we chat about Cowen's role in the success of this 2013 FedEx Cup Champion and about some of Pete's swing advice and very telling observations about the (golf) swing.

So, if you have tried, to no avail, everything to improve your swing and game, this just may be your Holy Graile of golf swing insights. Beginner to aspiring Tour Player, this is one Podcast you need to hear.

Note: Ending our 5th regular season, we are putting together our Holiday shows. PLUS: We are putting the finishing touches on our Lesson Tee App to be available soon, so stay tuned.

Good Golfing!

What Can You Learn From Your Feet: A Chat With Director of Instruction Gary Cordoza Plus a Challenge

Gary Cordoza, Director of Instruction at the Joe and Leighs Golf Performance Center and I chat about my fixation with watching Tour Player's footwork and what golfers can learn.

This interview on the Lesson Tee Radio/Internet Show was done shortly after I had spent the week on the practice range at TPC Boston during the Deutsche Bank Championship.

This Podcast can be of value to literally every level of player. It also puts forth a challenge that Gary and I will discuss more in depth after the PlayOffs end in a couple of weeks. Listen to the challenge then watch the remaining FedEx PlayOffs and you might find yourself learning quite a lot as you watch those slow motion swings. Remember to pay close attention to the footwork.

Join us each Wednesday on The Lesson Tee Show 10-11am ET. Simply follow the link THEN click on the flashing ON AIR button.

We'll 'see' you on the TEE.

Cheers!

A MUST Listen: Jeff O'Neil, Expert Club Fitter, on Why Club Fitting is More Improtant Than Ever

Jeff O'Neil, expert club fitter and launch monitor specialist with Joe and Leighs Companies, is one of our most popular guest on The Lesson Tee Show. His expetiese can help make the difference when it comes to your next golf club purchase.

This is one of the best times of the year to buy clubs as companies work to clear inventories in preperation for launching new products. Clubs within 1-2 years of the latest models are just as effective while being much less expensive.

Most golfer's clubs are between 3-5 years old and technology of both clubs, shafts and balls has changed to the point that simply buying a set of clubs off the rack can be the worst decision a player can make.

Before you make that purchase of new clubs, I strongly suggest you take a few minutes and let Jeff O'Neil's expert knowledge help you and your golf game.

Don't forget to listen to The Lesson Tee Radio/Internet Show Wednesday 10-11am ET. Simply click this link then again on the flashing ON AIR button of the WNRI 1380AM Talk/Radio website's homepage.

We Started our Deutsche Bank Championship ticket giveaway on today's Lesson Tee Radio/Internet Show.

The Deutsche Bank Championship is the 2nd leg of the PGA TOUR's Fed Ex Playoffs.

The event is held August 30-September 2nd at TPC Boston and features the top 100 PGA TOUR players as the Fed Ex Play Offs is an elimination series of tournaments culminating with the Tour Championship September 19-22 at the famed East Lake GC in Atlanta.  The remaining 40 TOUR players will compete for the $1,440,000 winner's share of the $8 million purse.  Also, the player with the most FedEx points at the end of the Tour Championship will win the $10 million winning check as the FedEx Champion for the 2013 PGA TOUR season.  To say there's a lot on the line would be a mild understatement because if the winner of the Tour Championship also happens to have the most FedEx points, their total take from the Tour Championship will be a cool $11,440,000.

I recently chatted with Dr. Feldberg, long time student, on The Lesson Tee Show about developing a good working relationship with a teaching professional.

This topic has and will continue to be one of the most important issues to me as it should be to both teaching professionals and students.

Dr. Feldberg talks about how our relationship began and how it has evolved.

A must listen for golfers of all skill levels.

I'm BAACK!

I'm  putting up LINKS to my latest Podcasts taken  from The Lesson Tee Radio/Internet Show over the past several weeks.

Any golfer who has heard of Ben Hogan NEEDS to hear my interview with LPGA TOUR veteran and $3 million  winner Kris Tschetter as she shared about her very special relationship with  this iconic, very private man.

Kris Tschetter got very close to Hogan in his later years, recently writing a must read book called: Mr. Hogan, The  Man I Knew.

Further, my interview about the Mind/Body relationship with Steven Yellin could perhaps be one of the most important Podcasts, teaching wise, we have done on The Lesson Tee in  our 5 years. The company and website is Quiet Mind Golf.

So, if you're a golfer who just can not seem to convert that good golf swing into a good score, you NEED to listen to this!  If a beginner, the  information will be eye opening to you.

These are FACTS not simple conjecture. This is the Podcast LINK.

Enjoy!

A TOPIC FOR EVERY GOLFER: THE MIND / BODY CONNECTION With Steven Yellin

There is one piece of the Golf Puzzle that little time is spent on as a golfer develops their swing and game. That is the Mind and its relationship to effectively swinging the club thus maximizing one's scoring.

This Podcast is one I've been editing for some time as it, from a purely teaching standpoint, is perhaps one of the MOST important we have done in our 5 years on air.

I have tried to edit my chat with Quiet Mind Golf Founder Steven Yellin so as to be both informative and thought provoking at the same time. I wanted to encourage golfers of all skill levels to look more deeply into their MIND / BODY relationship with their teaching professionals. IT COULD BE YOUR MISSING LINK! Oh, and if your teacher or coach doesn't do 'swing therapy', I strongly suggest you find one that does. Particulaly if you've got a solid swing but just can't seem to convert.

Steven Yellin has gone beyond speculation when it comes to the relationship between the mind and the body relative to the golf swing.

Steven and baseball great Buddy Biancalana, stand out short stop for the Kansas City Royals when they won the 1985 World Series, teamed up some years ago embarking on a mission to find and prove what actually happens when an athlete has a ZONE experience. Both Yellin and Biancalana have had ZONE experiences in their careers. Steven played and teaches Tennis.

Relative to Golf, Yellin's factual findings have been embraced by the PGA of AMERICA and many of the TOP 50 & 100 teaching pros including one of the TOP 3 teachers and TOUR coaches.

If you see this podcast posting and have read this far, I STRONGLY suggest you take 6-7 minutes and  listen to this FIRST of TWO podcasts of my chat with STEVEN YELLIN, President, Quiet Mind Golf.  It could lead to your 'finishing the Golf Puzzle' you've struggled with in spite of that terriffic golf swing you may have. If you are just getting started in golf, Yellin's words are of equal importance.

You can listen to THE LESSON TEE live each Wednesday 10-11am ET by going to WNRI.com and clicking on the flashing ON AIR button. That will lead you to THE TEE.

Cheers!

KRIS TSCHETTER PAFRT II: The LPGA TOUR today and womens issues when it comes to the golf swing

This is the second of my two part interview with veteran LPGA TOUR player, Kris Tschetter, close friend with Ben Hogan. She is the author of the book; Mr. Hogan, The Man I knew that chronicles Kris' friendship with one of Golf's most influencial and recognizable players in Ben Hogan.

Kris chats,  in this second of two Podcasts about what changes have been made that have moved the LPGA TOUR into a world wide and very competitive circut.

She also chats with me about her observations as a teacher and pro am partner with issues women need to consider working on when it comes to their golf swings.

What we chat about is most certainly food for thought for literally every amature golfer needs to ponder.

At just under 6 minutes, as a veteran teacher, I strongly recommend any woman, (and male), golfer sit down and listen to then reflect on their own golf swing as the information just might help you with your golf swing and provide a question or two for that teaching pro you are taking lessons from.

Enjoy and be sure to listen to THE LESSON TEE Radio/Internet Show that airs every Wednesday, 10-11am ET. Simply go to www.WNRI.COM and click on the flashing ON AIR button and you are ON THE TEE!

Kris Tschetter talks about; The Man I Knew in BEN HOGAN

Kris Tschetter, LPGA TOUR Player was close friends with Ben Hogan who was a very private man in spite of his iconic fame as a professional golfer.

This is the first of two podcasts taken from Tschetter's chat with me on  the LESSON TEE Radio/Internet Show.

Kris' book; Mr. Hogan, The Man I knew is one every person who knows of Ben Hogan's fame needs to read.

Ben Crenshaw said of this fantastic book; "My profound thanks to Kris for sharing her personal thoughts and rememberances of a man so few knew well."

Kris Tschetter was one of very few people Hogan let into his life.

Listen as Kris shares some special moments she had with Ben Hogan at Shady Oaks Country Club   in this first of two Podcasts take from the Lesson Tee Show.

Mr. Hogan, The Man I knew by LPGA TOUR Player Kris Tschetter.

Finally, Down Under is On Top with a Green Jacket

Greg Norman was robbed of winning the Masters Green Jacket more than once starting in 1986.  On a wet, rainy Sunday in April 2013, Norman watched as one of his biggest fans, Adam Scott, got that Green Jacket for Norman and Australia in true Aussie fashion, namely scrapping and never giving up.

As the sun began to set over Augusta National, not one but three Australian players had a chance to steal victory from the jaws of lion hearted Angel Cabrera and his caddie son. Adam Scott,  Jason Day and Marc Leishman were on the first page of the leader board as the event was winding to a close. Or was it?

Cabrera, for his part dropped a shot at the 13th hole to fall out of the lead only to make birdie at the 16th and finally the 18th hole to force Aussie Adam Scott to join him on the water logged 18th tee once again for a Masters playoff that is sure to be one for the books.

Like throwing darts, both Scott and Cabrera matched each other shot for shot to par that first sudden death hole.

With the rain pelting down, ever harder, the two titans strode to the 10th tee at Augusta probably unaware of just how hard it really was raining.

Two tee shots at the second sudden death hole saw both players in good approach position to the dangerous 10th green.

Again, shot for shot, both players appeared to be heading to a third hole with grand pressure shots within birdie range into the 10th green.

Cabrera couldn’t have hit his putt any better hanging it on the lip and making par.

As Adam stood over his putt and caddie Stevie Williams, also from Down Under, New Zealand, wasn’t going to let this slip away from his boss and good friend. Williams gave Scott the correct read for his winning putt. “We knew it was a right-to-left putt. He said he thought it was a cup outside, but I told him it broke more than he thought and it was two cups outside the hole.”

Scott made an absolutely terrific stroke and drilled his birdie putt, thus ending Australia’s
drought of golf’s Majors and ending the criticism about Adam Scott’s putting ability.

Yep, Adam did it. Revenge is sweet for all those years and close calls by Scott’s iconic idle Norman and others through professional golf history.

As darkness fell over Augusta National and this year’s Masters, finally, the country of Australia, known as Down Under, is now On Top with a Green Jacket and one of Golf’s jewels in the Masters.

Congratulations Adam and congratulations to Australia.
